A brief inspection of the book “Study Smarter not Harder”

We all know why we study; however, most of us lack the perception of how to study effectively. Searching for such a guide, I came across to (Study smarter, not harder) which is written by Kevin Paul who is a Canadian writer. Currently, Kevin is the president of Kihon Learning System. I read the book carefully, and found it so useful in managing my programs that I decided to write a short review of the book.

Theme of the Book:
This book has been divided into four parts, encompassing 19 chapters. The author has elaborated multifarious subjects such as the structure of human brain, kinds of intelligence, various models of learning, salient role of preparing tools and place in effective and valuable learning, memory and its replenish, concentration, principles of learning, goal setting, time management, sources of knowledge, handling stress and anxiety and scientific method of getting essays done thru timely and effective use of recent scientific data and charts. Besides, at the end of the book, he has criticized some bad studying habits such as listening music while studying, irrelevant and improper speed of reading claiming theme as mostly known and accepted myths of study.
One of the best characteristics of the book is the use of touching and inspiring quotations in relation to the main topic which act as useful supporting points. Style of the author is friendly and motivating containing simple-structured sentences.
What, in my point of view, is object-able is the motivation of exam-based attitude towards studying which can be found inthe chapters allotted to “Examination Preparation” that indirectly encourages the readers to study mostly for exams, though the same point has been criticized in other parts of the book. As an example read this sentence: “The best approach for good long-term preparation is to look at the entire year or semester as pre-exam studying.” Page-150
In spite of this, if you are looking for an inspiring guide about ways of learning effectively, I suggest you read the book.
